Does TSA PreCheck work at every airport?

TSA PreCheck is available at 200+ airports and with 90+ airlines, covering virtually every major and mid-size U.S. airport. If you're flying domestically from any airport with scheduled commercial service, you'll almost certainly have access to a PreCheck lane.

The catch: not every checkpoint within an airport has a PreCheck lane open at all times. Smaller terminals or low-traffic checkpoints sometimes close the PreCheck lane during off-peak hours and funnel everyone through standard screening. At large hubs like LAX or JFK, individual terminals may have PreCheck lanes that open and close on different schedules.

Also, PreCheck is a TSA program — it only applies to the security checkpoint, not customs/immigration. For international arrivals, you'd want Global Entry (which includes PreCheck). The program costs $78 for 5 years ($15.60/year), and most frequent flyers report it pays for itself within 2-3 trips through a busy hub.
