What we compare

On-time rate

Percentage of flights arriving within 15 minutes of schedule, from BTS data.

Delay severity

When a flight IS late, how late does it usually get? Average delay in minutes.

Cancellation rate

How often the flight gets cancelled outright — a risk most comparison tools ignore.

Airport conditions

If flights depart from different airports, we compare departure reliability and TSA wait times.

Why compare logistics, not just price

Most flight comparison tools show you the cheapest fare. But a $30 savings doesn't matter when you miss your connection, land 90 minutes late, or get stuck at an airport with a 45-minute security line.

FlightCheck compares the things that actually affect your travel experience: historical on-time performance, delay severity when things go wrong, cancellation risk, and departure airport conditions.

We pull from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) — the same data airlines report to the Department of Transportation. Every stat comes from real flight outcomes, not estimates.

FAQ

How many flights can I compare?

Up to 3 at a time. Enter airline code and flight number for each. You can optionally add origin and destination airports if the flight number serves multiple routes.

Where does the data come from?

All statistics come from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), which collects on-time performance data from every major U.S. airline. We update monthly.

What if my flight isn't in the database?

Some regional carriers or very new routes may not have enough data yet. We'll show you what we have and flag when data is unavailable.

Does this include international flights?

We cover flights to and from U.S. airports reported to the DOT. Purely international routes (e.g., London to Paris) are not included.

Is this different from Google Flights or Kayak?

Yes. Those tools compare prices and schedules. We compare reliability — how often each flight is actually on time, how bad delays get, and how often flights get cancelled.
