Accepted Answer

A 60-minute layover at DSM is risky. About 20% of travelers with this connection time miss their flight. We recommend at least 150 minutes.

How long of a layover should I book at DSM?

For domestic flights at DSM, we recommend at least 150 minutes to comfortably make your connection. For international flights, allow at least 120 minutes. Early morning flights tend to have fewer delays, so your connection is safer if your first leg departs before 8 AM.

Question 5

What happens if I miss my connection at DSM?

Accepted Answer

If both flights are on the same ticket, the airline must rebook you on the next available flight at no extra charge. If you booked separate tickets, you're responsible for rebooking costs. At DSM, if you miss your connection due to an airline delay, ask the gate agent about rebooking and meal vouchers. If the airline caused the missed connection and it results in an overnight stay, request hotel accommodation.
