We look at real federal data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics to figure out whether your layover is actually long enough. Here's what goes into it:
- ·On-time rate — how often flights actually arrive on schedule at your connection airport
- ·Typical delays — when flights are late, how late they usually are
- ·Cancellation rate — the chance your flight doesn't operate at all
- ·Weather patterns — winter storms, summer thunderstorms, and everything in between
- ·Minimum connection time — the airline's own required minimum for that airport
